Building a professional network

How to build a professional network

Networking goes beyond sharing cards or connecting on social media.

Networking can expose you to new ideas, trends, and best practices in your industry.

Some steps to make a professional network

1. Search for connections online
Professionals often use social media and professional networking platforms to build their networks. If you've been using social media for a long period of time, you likely already have people in your network you can build relationships with more deeply.

2. Ask your current network for contacts

If you currently work in an office and have relationships with colleagues, you can ask them about their own networks and if they can connect you with others in your field. This is a great way to meet new people. You also have the benefit of an introduction from someone who already knows you and your professional abilities.

3. Be willing to help first

When you're new to networking, be willing to support the careers of others in your network. The more you help others, the more likely they may be to help you when you need it. You can also deepen your relationships with them.

4.Respect Others' Privacy

Always ask for permission before sharing someone else's personal information. Respect their boundaries and online privacy.

5.Avoid Trolling

Do not engage in cyberbullying or trolling. Spread positivity and kindness in your online interactions.
